Water Opossum or Yapok

About Water Opossum or Yapok

This opossum is unique because it spends a lot of time in the water. It is the only marsupial that spends any time in the water. Its back feet are webbed and its fur is water-repellent. The female’s pouch has a muscle that contracts to keep water out so her babies do not drown. To find food, water opossums, or yapoks, dive to catch fish and other water animals.
