Warty Newt or Great Crested Newt
About Warty Newt or Great Crested Newt
In the breeding season the male develops a jagged crest that runs down his back. His stomach is either orange or yellow with black spots. The female lays her eggs under water, usually about 300 of them, which she then fastens individually to plants. She then uses a sticky substance to fasten the leaf around each egg to protect them.
