Virginia Opossum

About Virginia Opossum

Opossums belong to a group of animals called marsupials. Marsupials raise their young in a pouch until their bodies are fully formed. The Virginia Opossum lives in the trees. They have messy fur, a pointy snout, and a long, bare tail. They eat during the night, and they will eat just about anything they can find, including dead animals. To protect themselves against predators, the Virginia opossum will pretend it is dead. The females can have up to thirty babies at one time, most do not survive, however.
