Thorny Devil

About Thorny Devil

The Thorny Devil lives in the deserts of western Australia. It is covered with numerous spines all over its body. These spines serve two purposes. First, they are for self-defense against predators. Second, dew gathers on the spikes which the lizard then draws to its mouth to drink. Its diet mainly consists of ants. Because eating ants can be a slow process, the Thorny Devil’s spines serve as protection against any predators that may try to attack it while it is eating.
