About Okapi

The Okapi was unknown outside of central Africa until 1901. They live in such thick rain forests that they are rarely seen and they remained undiscovered for a long time. From the shoulders down it looks like a horse with long legs, a brown coat and horizontal white stripes on its back legs and flanks. Its neck is extra long, and its tongue is long enough to lick its eyes. Except when caring for their young, okapi live alone.
