About Nilgai or Bluebuck

Of all the antelope in Asia, the Nilgai, or Bluebuck, is the largest. The males can weigh more than 550 lb. (250kg). The females are smaller. Only the male nilgai have horns. Nilgais live in rocky areas and thorny scrub. They move in small herds and are grazing animals. They especially like to eat sugar cane and they sometimes cause problems for farmers when they eat their sugar cane and other crops. Females usually give birth to twins at the start of the monsoon season when food is plentiful. When running, nilgais can reach speeds of 30 mph (48km/h).
