Long-Footed Potoroo

About Long-Footed Potoroo

The Long-Footed Potoroo is a member of the kangaroo family and is known as a rat-kangaroo. It looks like a giant rodent. It is a little smaller than a rabbit. It has soft, thick fur and a long pointed muzzle. Its diet consists mostly of fungi in the form of truffles. Sometimes it will eat seeds and insects. It has large powerful hindlegs that it hops around on. Its forelegs are smaller, like a kangaroo’s. This potoroo is a nocturnal marsupial. It sleeps during the day and emerges at night to eat.
