Kitti’s Hog-Nosed Bat

About Kitti’s Hog-Nosed Bat

These tiny bats were not discovered until 1973. This bat is unbelievably small. It may be the smallest mammal in the world. They measure about 1 inch (2.5cm) long and weigh only about 0.07 oz. (2g). They’re almost the size of an adult human’s thumb.

They have pointy ears, a small pig-like snout, and no tail. Like most bat species, they roost during the day in caves. They live in the tropical forests of Thailand.
