Fire Salamander

About Fire Salamander

Fire Salamanders are black with bright yellow striped markings. These bright markings tell predators that they are poisonous and would not be pleasant to eat. The Fire Salamander got its name because its skin will cause burning to the eyes and mouth of any predator that will try to eat it.

These salamanders come out at night to hunt. They mate on land, but the females give birth to live young in streams and pools.
