Common Wombat

About Common Wombat

There are three species of wombats, all are found throughout Australia and Tasmania. Common wombats are the heaviest of the three species, weighing up to 75 lbs (35kg). Wombats are nocturnal. They feed at night on plants and grass. They have strong front feet with powerful claws that they use to dig burrows up to 100 ft. (30m) long. Wombats spend the daytime in their burrows.
